MLS’s Pacific Northwest Version of Manifest Destiny continued Friday with the announcement that the Timbers were in for 2011, joining the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver MLS in Major League Soccer and reuniting their three way derby called the Cascadia Cup.

Pacific Northwest expansion is expected to continue as Yakima, the Palm Springs of Washington, and their Reds and the Victoria (B.C.) Vistas position themselves to compete against the St. Louis Pawns, Montreal Impact and others.
