As promised, a very special edition of the Almanack with today’s news!
Team to announce name, colors, logo and ticket prices
Join us in the morning on Monday, May 11 as we join the team in the announcement we’ve all been waiting for!
The Sons of Ben were founded in January 2007 in a historical bar on a little back alley in Philadelphia named McGillin’s during a lunch meeting of local soccer fans. We come full circle 2+ years and 3700 members later to celebrate this momentous occasion.
The party starts at 9AM at McGillin’s Old Ale House at Drury and Juniper (between Chestnut and Samson and 13th and Broad). It’s convenient to all the public transportation going through Center City, including all underground lines and Regional Rail. We’ll march to City Hall starting at 11, marching through the middle then out to Dilworth Plaza on the 15th St. side of City Hall (where the big bleachers were for the Phillies parade) for the 11:30 announcement, hosted by Mayor Nutter.
If you’re planning on coming downtown and joining us on this historic day, please fill out the form below so we know how many people to expect and when. We’ll also be selling traditional SoB light blue shirts made special for the announcement by pre-order only, and only for people attending that day. You can order your shirt on the form:

And for those wondering about season tickets, here’s a paragraph from the team’s press release:
With well over 6,000 season ticket deposits collected to date, the team will also announce ticket pricing for the under-construction 18,500 seat stadium along the Delaware River waterfront in Chester, Pa. Current season ticket depositors will then have 30 days to add seats to their accounts using their existing priority number. For more information on becoming a season ticket holder, please visit www.mlsphilly2010.com.
