This week: Montreal comes to town, Red Bull bus deadline
Union v. Montreal, Tailgate Fiesta
"O Canada" will be heard at PPL for the second week in a row as the Montreal Impact come to town. The Italian-French-Canadians will be bringing Designated Player Marco Di Vaio and new signing Alessandro Nesta, who has yet to suit up for the Impact.
To celebrate our Italian-French-Canadian visitors, the Sons of Ben tailgate fiesta will start at 3:00 in Lot B. The menu includes chicken and beef fajitas, with hard and soft taco shells, plus rice and beans, turkey and black bean burgers, and veggie burgers (and other veggie options). Plus salads and desserts as always.
Plus, for the hot weather we'll have frozen margarita makers, ice, and mixers available, and it's a good bet someone will have tequila to share. As always, tickets are available in advance only:
Code of Conduct Reminder
We also want to thank everyone who came out to support the U last night. The result was disappointing, but the showing inside and outside the River End last night was a great show of respect to the team and the tournament.
Less respectful were some of the homophobic slurs coming out of the River End. No matter how frustrating the game may be, anti-gay slurs are not acceptable in the River End any more than racial or ethnic or religious slurs are. We have gay and lesbian members and they deserve the same respect as every other member.
So please, going forward, be as offensive to the other team as you want. But do it without attacking your fellow SoBs.
