The Sons of Ben board are aware of the recent allegations of a racial slur being directed at a player from the opposing team by one of our own players. This alleged incident transpired during Saturday night's playoff game against the New England Revolution and was first reported, publicly, on Monday night.
The board and SoB condemn racism, whether it occurs on or off the pitch. We earnestly call upon the team and the league to initiate a rapid, effective, and comprehensive investigation into this issue and that any punishments reflect the findings from those investigations.
We encourage cooperation and truthfulness from both teams and all individuals implicated. We will closely monitor the progress of the investigation.
We kindly request that everyone refrain from passing judgment until the investigations have been completed and all the facts are made available.
