Chester, PA – Philadelphia Union front office staff squared off against the Union’s supporters club the Son’s of Ben Sunday night at PPL Park for the 2nd Annual River Cup. The origin of the match started with the Sons of Ben asking to play on the pitch at PPL Park, it then turned into a challenge of supporters verses coaches and staff of the Union. Last year’s River Cup helped raise over $25,000 for local youth soccer club Chester City United. This year’s charity was the Philadelphia Union Foundation.

Saturday’s Sons of Ben-organized Help Kick Hunger charity at McFaddens at Citizen’s Bank Park was a huge success. $8,300 was raised at the event, which featured appearances from the Philadelphia Union’s Brian Carroll, Zach Pfeffer and Jimmy McLaughlin. The charity event will feature some of the Union’s ownership including Jay Sugarman (Chairman), Nick Sakiewicz (CEO & Operating Partner) and Rob Buccini (investor) as well as executives and technical staff including Peter Nowak (Team Manager/Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations), John Hackworth (Coach), Rob Vartughian (Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coordinator) and Brendan Burke (Reserve Team Head Coach and Assistant Youth Director).
