Sons of Ben 2015 Board Elections

We are pleased to announce that voting for the Sons of Ben 2015 Leadership Board is about to begin!

Voting will open at 8am on Friday, November 14th and conclude at 8pm on Friday, November 21st.

All paid members for 2014 will receive an email ballot from the website managing the balloting, BallotBoxOnline.com.  If you do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder.  Voters will create a password, and then be able to vote for either 1 or 2 new Board members (no blank ballots, member bios are posted HERE.).  The votes will be tabulated and three Poll Officers will have access to the results.  Those officers are SoB President Kenny Hanson, SoB Membership Director Monica Herzog, and SoB Membership/Feedback Coordinator Tim Sosar. The results will be announced shortly thereafter.

In the event of a tie, the Board officers who will not be voting in the general election will cast their votes to settle the tie in a Run Off election.  There will be seven non-general voting Board members, so as to ensure there is a final winner.  That vote will be held immediately after the conclusion of the general vote.

The ballot will be smart phone-friendly, so you will not need to be at a desktop to vote.  Reminder emails will be sent out to those who have not submitted a ballot by 12pm on Thursday, November 20th.

If there are any questions or problems during the voting process, please contact Tim Sosar at tim.sosar@sonsofben.com or by submitting a Feedback request through www.sonsofben.com/Feedback

For the first time, the Sons of Ben will have open elections.   It has been decided that we will open (2) new seats.  This will increase the current board from 10 members to a total of 12 members.  We are excited to see what we can do with 2 new additional motivated board members.  Please see below for a time line of events.

  • Members who wish to be considered for open board positions will be required to submit a Bio that will be posted to the Sons of Ben website for everyone to read. One key element of the bio that will be focused on will be service. What have you done to help the group and/or other organizations. There will be more details on the focus of the bio’s later but again, service will be a core element.  We would suggest to start getting these ready.  We will start requesting these in the coming weeks to go up on our website.

  • October 2014: A full membership meeting will be set up where all nominees will be required to attend and answer questions from a moderator as well as the membership. This meeting will be recorded and posted online for those that cannot attend. We will work on making it available via live stream as well.

  • November 2014: Elections. All current Sons of Ben members will receive a unique link to vote on the open board positions. The logistics are being worked on and will be announced at a later date. Rest assured, we will have an secured system in place for this process.

  • December 2014: The SoB Board of Directors will meet, ratify the election and welcome the new Board members. At this meeting, the new members will be assigned their roles on the board beginning 2015. Transitional work will begin at this meeting as well.

If you are interested you joining the board, we strongly suggest reaching out to the current board and asking questions.  Being a board member may not be exactly what you think it is.  If you do not know any other the current board members, you can find all of us and our contact information HERE.  We would also encourage you to volunteer for as many Sons of Ben events as possible, so you have an idea of how the process works.

Additionally, we will be holding a Sons of Ben summit on August 13th at the Field House in Philadelphia  from 7PM - 9PM at the Fieldhouse in Philadelphia.  If you have questions about the process or about running for a board seat, we would strongly encourage you to attend an ask as many questions as possible.
